Who’s excited for today’s post? I know I am… So today I am going to be sharing with you my monthly favorites for August (I know, this post is coming a bit late). Interestingly enough, this past month I have a lot of random favorites, and not a huge amount of beauty/fashion favorites… oh well, it is what it is…
Let’s get into it!
Oh my goodness guys, the Catfish addiction is real. Embarrassingly real at that… it started when I was flipping through the channels, and decided nothing good was on TV (this pretty much always happens to me). And since Catfish is almost always on MTV, that’s what I started watching. In case you don’t know, Catfish is a TV series about people who get into online relationships without ever meeting the other person in real life. They come onto the show to find out if the person they have been talking to is really who they say they are, and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that nine times out of ten, the other person is keeping some sort of secret.
Anyways, this show is dangerously addicting. Although I had seen it before, I never was a huge fan, but for some reason I can’t stop watching it now. I guess I like trying to figure out what secret the other person is hiding. Nonetheless, I am hooked. Get it? Because you hook a catfish? Sorry, I just had to… I’ll stop now. Anyways, the fact that there is almost always a marathon going on doesn’t really help the matter…
Yep, just another TV show that I can’t get enough of. I have to blame my sister for this one though… well, sort-of. Basically, this show had been among my favorites for a while. However, I usually only watch it when it actually comes on TV… that is until recently. After watching it with my family over vacation, my youngest sister began playing it on demand. And since nothing good is ever on, it became sort-of a routine to binge watch it together. The intro says the show is about four lifelong friends who compete to embarrass each other, and that is really all you need to know. Well that, and that it’s pretty hilarious, not gonna lie…
Light Lens Sunglasses
You guys, I literally cannot believe that I went my whole life without knowing these sunglasses existed. Well, maybe I did know they existed; however, I never bothered to buy a pair. Basically, I have always been one to pick out a pair of black lens sunglasses; however after losing my previous pair, I purchased the sunglasses below at Francescas– and honestly, I’m obsessed. I feel really stupid saying this, but it’s almost like seeing the world through a super trendy filter instead of everything just looking a lot darker… seriously they are life changing. Go buy a pair… or don’t, that’s fine too. 🙂
Okay, so I kind-of have a problem (big surprise there). If I am not spending money on clothing while at work, I am spending money on lunch/dinner… because, lets be honest… sometimes I’m lazy and I can’t be bothered to pack food for work. This summer my mall started adding a bunch of new restaurants/dining options; one of them being Zoe’s Kitchen. Basically Zoes Kitchen is the Mediterranean equivalent to Panera Bread, and the food is so, so good. It’s one of those places that I buy one meal, like it so much that I only ever order that, finally force myself to get something different, and then fall in-love with the new item. Then the cycle repeats itself. It started off with the quinioa salad, then progressed to the spinach roll-ups, then the tuna pita sandwich… And although eating out isn’t a great habit to get into, the upside is that prices are really good, and the portions are generous so I often come home with leftovers… Score!
I’m sorry to say that me and the gym haven’t been seeing much of each other this past month, and while I have been making an effort to go when I can, my schedule doesn’t always allow that to happen. For mainly that reason, I have been doing more at-home workouts, many of them coming from the depths of YouTube. I started to work out with FitnessBlender after missing a Tabata class at the gym, but still craving a workout. These workouts are great at getting you sweaty fast, but without being so hard that you want to stop. The instructors are also really motivating, and the workouts never get boring. Also, the fact that the workouts are free is just an added bonus.
For a while I had been long overdue for a new phone, mainly because I hadn’t had one for about a month. Yepp, that’s right. I somehow ended up losing my phone, and couldn’t find it for the life of me (FYI- it is still missing). Luckily I am not one of those people who’s life depends on their phone, but it did make life quite difficult. It took me a good month of borrowing both my sister and mom’s phone to realize I probably wasn’t going to find my phone anytime soon, and got a new one. I ended up purchasing the LG Lancent, and am pretty pleased with it so far. Needless to say, it feels great to have a phone again, and finally having a smartphone is pretty cool too.
So basically, I have been getting super bored of listening to the same songs over and over every time I get into the car, so I started playing CD’s instead of listening to the radio. I mean how many times can one station play the song “Bad Blood?” I really don’t care to find out… And although CD’s may also be repetitive, at least I can control what artists I am listening to, and not be annoyed every time I get into the car. Plus, CD’s get rid of the whole commercial issue.
Years and Years: Shine
I love it when I discover new jams, it pretty-much makes my life. Okay, honestly I don’t know what has gotten into me, but I feel like this post is filled with exaggerations. So no, good songs don’t make my life, but they do make me pretty happy, and the song Shine is certainly a new favorite.
And that’s it for this post! Again, I know there aren’t a huge amount of fashion/beauty favorites… actually there is only one… However, I didn’t want to make something up so I just stuck with what I have actually been loving… Until next time!
