December Favorites

Hello All!

So today I wanted to share with you some of my favorites from the month of December! As I mentioned in my previous post, I have been trying to get back to a more regular posting schedule, so I figured a monthly favorites post was essential, considering I flaked out on the last two months…  And yes, I am aware that this post is coming out quite late as well, but just know I am working on it…  Practice makes perfect, right?

Like always, I had quite a few favorites for last month, and have compiled a list of those favorites below- some of them being fashion favorites, some beauty favorites, and some lifestyle favorites-hopefully you’ll enjoy!  Also, feel free to share your own favorites in the comments below, I’d love to hear from you all!

Biotin and Collagen Shampoo and Conditioner

In case you didn’t notice, I’m really into trying new hair products… Like to the point that when I come close to finishing a bottle of something I start doubling my usual amount  just so I can empty it, and move on to another product I’ve never used before.   So after finishing my last shampoo and conditioner, I decided to try out the Thick and Full shampoo and conditioner from the brand ogx.  What caught my eye about this product was that biotin was one of the main ingredients listed.  In case you didn’t know- biotin (also known as vitamin b7) is a vitamin that promotes healthy hair, skin, and nails, and can often be found as a supplement in capsule or gummy form.  However, I have never seen it used in a shampoo formula before- and boy does it make a huge difference!  The bottle says this shampoo and conditioner will make your hair feel thicker and healthier after just one use, and let me tell you- that is not false advertising as I could feel it working as soon as I started massaging it into my scalp… pretty crazy, right?  Also, sorry for the blurry picture quality- my camera decided it didn’t want to focus…

Rinsing on Cold/Not Blow Drying

Moving right along with the whole hair theme, last month I made the decision to cut back on my heat products usage.  Towards the beginning of my freshman year in college, I got a stacked A-line bob, and I have been trying to grow out my hair ever since.    It wasn’t even that I didn’t like my haircut; however,  long hair is so much easier for me to manage.  I know a lot of people feel the opposite way; however, my hair is naturally wavy, so unless it is straightened- short hair can quickly turns into a frizzy Afro on me… hence, why my hair is always thrown on top of my head…   Anywaaayys, because of this, I have been trying really hard not to damage my locks, and we all know- the easiest way to do that is to burn it off via a ton of heat products.

And although I am not one to make a habit out of straightening/curling my hair every day-  I do take pretty hot showers (sometimes twice a day), and up until recently, I was  blow drying my hair quite frequently as well.  However, I don’t have enough willpower to give up hot showers completely, (especially in the middle of winter) so instead I started ending my showers with a burst of cold water in an effort to lock in moisture.  I have also been letting my hair dry naturally without brushing it through afterwards.  My next steps are to stop washing my hair every day (but still showering!), and to start using more deep conditioners… I’m on a mission guys!

No Makeup

Not only have I been steering clear of heat products lately, but I have also been trying to give my skin and eyelashes a break as well.  Over these past couple of months, I haven’t been wearing makeup nearly as much as I used to.  And although I never wore a ton of makeup in the first place, I did wear mascara on the regular- which I have since stopped doing.  I’ll be honest, me not wearing makeup started off as pure laziness and not having enough time to put it on.  However, after a short timespan of going without it,  I started really liking the results I was seeing!  It feels good to just focus on moisturizing, and letting my  skin and lashes a breath for a bit.  Also, not wearing makeup gets rid of that whole ‘I don’t feel like taking my makeup off, but I don’t want to go to bed with it on’ situation as well as making it really exciting on days I do decided to wear it!

Suede Boots

You guys- these boots may be one of the best investments I’ve ever made… well, when it comes to shoes that is…   For a long time I had been really wanting a pair of black suede boots that hit just above the the knee; however, I couldn’t seem to find a pair anywhere.  Well, it just so happens that someone ordered these shoes online, and returned them in stores at my local Francesca’s.   Conveniently, they were my size exactly (I’m pretty sure that has to be fate…) and I bought them right away.  Not to my dismay, they have quickly become as staple in my wardrobe.  The fact that they are plain black makes them easy to create outfits around, and they can either be dressed up or dressed down which is great!

Justin Bieber’s new Album

Sooo, I have a confession… I may be a converted Belieber… I know, I’m hanging my head in shame right now.  However, I can honestly say I have enjoyed every song on his new album, and have been listening to it on repeat ever since hearing it for the first time… it’s that good.  His vibe has changed a lot since he started putting out music, and there is a lot of meaning behind his more recent songs.  If I had to choose a favorite?  I think The Feeling takes it for me… I don’t know why, but the vibe it gives off takes me back to my dancing days, and I feel like it would be the perfect song for a modern/contemporary routine.  If you haven’t listened to his new album yet, I would highly recommend doing that- you wont be disappointed, at least I wasn’t!

Being that I danced for about ten years and cheered for about six, it’s hard for me to not be doing anything now that I am in college.  And although I would love to join a dance studio, not many offer adult classes, so I have been hitting the gym instead.  I actually used to take a lot of Zumba during the summer, but somehow forgot about it, and have recently rekindled my love for the class.  What’s great about Zumba is fact that it has a fast paced nature, yet is easy to follow.  Plus, after getting used to a routine, you can really get into it!

Love Spell

So you know the saying “everything happens for a reason,”- well, I feel like this was one of those moments…  In my September Favorites post, I mentioned how much I love the Pure Seduction scent from the Victoria’s Secret Collection.  However, when I decided to restock, I couldn’t find it anywhere- forcing me to try a new scent altogether.  So after smelling basically every body spray in the store, I finally decided on Love Spell- most of my decision being based purely on the product description since I couldn’t tell one scent from another at this point…   Luckily for me, I have always gravitated towards fruity fragrances, and since Love Spell contains both cherry blossom and peach tones, it has quickly become my go-to body spray.

So for some reason I ended up purchasing a massive amount of ChapStick/lip balm last month.  I’m not sure why exactly, but I kept gravitating towards lip products when purchasing Christmas gifts- and since most of them came in multi-packs, I have been testing all of the leftovers.  Also, since the cold weather is finally upon us- it is always a good idea to have a Chapstick nearby, because we all know how fun dry lips can be…

And with that I am done with my December Favorites!  I feel like December was one of those months that just flew by without any warning, but it was a fun month nonetheless!

Be sure to let me know it the comments:

Until next time!
